Module 1: Bible overview

In this module we encounter a God who desires to reveal his truth to us and we explore how he does that. We learn how the Bible came to be and receive an overview of it and a chronology of the key events. The topics of creation, the fall into sin and the story of God’s saving grace are also covered as we work our way through the Old Testament.

Module 2: Trinity: God as Father, Son & Holy Spirit

In this module we look at the Christian Creeds (Apostles’, Nicene, Athanasian) and the teaching of God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit – one true God. We also look at Christian symbols, colours and the cycle of the church year.

Module 3: Jesus: our Lord and Saviour

In this module we look at the life and ministry of Jesus, his teaching and miracles, and the way he has fulfilled the promises of God through his death and resurrection.

Module 4: Christian ethics: living according to God’s plan

In this module we study the law of God, specifically the Ten Commandments. We see how these commandments protect life and give us the guidance we need to make God-pleasing choices in an ever-changing world.

Module 5: Means of Grace: the ways God shows his love

In this module we discover a God who desires to bless us. We explore the sacraments of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We also explore what it means to live under the grace of forgiveness and discover the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Module 6: Worship: gathering in God’s presence

In this module we explore the way worship developed in the Bible and the blessings God provides through it. We also study the structure for our worship and learn more about why we worship the way that we do.

Module 7: Prayer: speaking with God and hearing his voice

In this module we explore the whole subject of prayer and different ways of praying privately and corporately. We also look at the Lord’s Prayer as a model for our prayer life.

Module 8: Church History: the way the Christian church has grown and spread

In this module we explore the history of the church and the development of different denominations. We also specifically focus on the history of the Lutheran Church and the way it is structured in Australia and the organizations connected to it.

Module 9: Religions of the World: exploring other belief systems

In this module we have a brief look at the different major religions of the world and what they teach about God. 

Module 10: Christian Living: discovering your place in the church and world

In this module we learn about God’s sovereignty in the world (the 2 kingdoms) and our role in it (station and vocation). We also look at the church as the body of Christ made up of many parts and learn to discover our spiritual gifts. We look at our responsibility to use our time, talents and treasures to the glory of God.
